Colossians 4:2

The verse of the week this week on Moody radio is Colossians 4:2: Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.

As we get ready to celebrate Thanksgiving, what are ways that you incorporate this principle into your daily lives?

As I prepared for this weeks Bible Study, God really pointed out to me that sometimes I don't have faith for the big things because I never had thankfulness for the small things. For example, Carolynn comes to me and says she needs $5 for something at school. I say no problem and write her a check. After all, I have enough in the bank account to cover it! But I don't stop and say, "God thankyou I have this $5. Thankyou for providing abundance for me." So then, when the need is $50, I'm more likely to wonder where will it come from and "how can I wiggle that out of the budget" because I really never acknowledged in my head that God provided the first $5! Then when it is $500 or $5000, in my heart - I panic! When really, $5000 isn't any harder for God than that first $5 I took for granted.
God builds our faith in tiny steps but we have to SEE the first small ones to let it build our faith. And I believe it all starts with a thankful heart.

Each year as we prepare for Thanksgiving I try to find new and different ways to reflect back over the previous year and all that we have to be Thankful for.

This year I put a blank piece of paper up on one of our kitchen cabinets and titled it "We Are Thankful for:". Throughout the couple of weeks prior to THanksgiving Keenan and I could write things on the paper that we are thankful for. Some of this years items included;
'I am thanksful for laughter, and I am thankful for the Lord's forgiveness', DJ.
Keenan wrote, 'I am thankful for my mom's cooking, and I am thankful when Rocky lets us sleep'(that is our cat).
There are so many more things written on the sheet, what a joy to get up and see this reminder each day!
Take time, really take time and reflect on all that you have to be thankful for. You may be surprised to see how long the list grows.
Today I also am thankful for many of you! We have an awesome group of ladies at Bethel, I have really enjoyed getting to know more of you this year and building stronger friendships with so many! God Bless and have a great Thanksgiving Day!
