Reminders for July 4th Week

There will be no Sunday School at church this week. Instead, we'll have the church picnic after the service. So wear casual clothes and bring a dish or two to share.

Also, I believe there is no Wednesday night service on Wednesday since that is the 4th.

When we pick up the Wednesday night study again on July 11th, we will be looking at Potipher's Wife. As Liz Curtis Higg's puts it, she was bored to distraction. If you don't have a book, but would like one, let me know. We have them at the church for $12.

Saturday Study

Sarah Eck is interested in hosting/leading a Bible study at her home on Saturday mornings. If this is something you would be interested in, please let her know. Also if you are interested in participating in a study that is not on Tuesday morning or Wednesday night, please let me know. I would LOVE to see several studies going at the same time -- they could be on different topics and meet the needs of the women in the church. Let us know you're thoughts!

Bad Girls of the Bible: Week One

This week we'll be talking about Eve -- I know the books aren't in yet. But they should be here by Wednesday. To help facilitate the discussion, here are a few passages and questions to ponder prior to Wednesday.

Read:
Genesis 3: Eve's response to temptation
Matthew 4:1-11 Jesus' response to temptation.
Psalm 51: How to respond when we sin

What mistakes did Eve make in this passage? Have you made similar mistakes?

Consider the things you crave physically, spiritually, and emotionally. Where are you weak in these areas?

Stephanie and I can't wait to start this study with you and learn more about how to live victorious walks.

New Wednesday Study

Hey, Ladies.

Shirley's fantastic study on the fruit of the spirit wrapped up this week with a lively discussion on the Holy Spirit. I love to see women discussing the deep things of God with such earnestness!

Next week we will begin a new study on Liz Curtis Higg's book, Bad Girls of the Bible. I have placed an order with Carpenter's Son, and should have them by Wednesday at the latest. The cost will be $12. I will use this blog to post some discussion points so that if you've missed a week or don't have a book you can still participate.

So stay tuned! I'm looking forward to a fun and challenging class this summer.

Books for Next Wednesday Study

Hey, y'all. Crazy long time without a post. Sorry about that!

Next Friday, June 15th, there is a fellowship night at Linda Lee Allen's home. We'll be having an outdoor picnic, and it will be a great time to get together with friends and make some new friends.

Also, Stephanie Wetlie and I will be leading the next Wednesday night study when Shirley's fabulous study on the Fruit of the Spirit ends. I brought Seven options last Wednesday, and will bring them to Sunday school, too. The front-runners right now are Finding Favor with the King by Tommy Tenney (a study of principals he takes from the book of Esther -- but not the novel -- though that's really good, too); Bad Girls of the Bible by Liz Curtis Higgs; and Lies Women Believe by Nancy Leigh DeMoss.

Other options include Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World by Joanne Weaver, B.L.E.S.S.E.D.: Discover God's Bigger Dream for you by Robyn Henk, a Willowcreek study on service, and a Women of Faith study Living a Life of Balance. Stephanie teased me about having a subconscious theme as I pulled books from Carpenter's Son's shelves.

This is your chance to weigh in if you have a strong preference.
